Spanish 3rd Honors Video
Part of the honors requirement for Spanish was that we would take the initiative and produce nine videos, demonstrating growth and showing ability to learn. This is the third of such videos. In this video, I talk about what poetic usage of Spanish, detailing in class assignments dealing with this, as well as my plans for studying for upcoming tests.

The script, translated to English, reads, "Hi my friends, this is my third honors video for Spanish class. In this video, I'm going to go over what we did this week. This week, we took a look at poetic Spanish, and applied the most commonly used four hundred vocabulary words we were given to create Haiku's. The rules established for these Haiku's were that we were restricted to three lines of five syllables, seven syllables, and five syllables. Alternatively, we could make five words, seven words, and five words. We had to create them in the image of six works of art, made by several Hispanic artists, and therefore we had to do six Haiku's. I'll read you one of the Haiku's I created in class. This uses a rather poetic language, and it is about the famous artist Picasso, and his famous mural, "Guernica".
Master Picasso
Fire in the city
Blood of everyone
This Haiku is a reflection of one of the most famous works of Picasso - that of Guernica, detailed the siege and subsequent massacre in the city of Guernica, a terrible tragedy in the Spanish Civil War. The Haiku originated in Japan, so using it for Spanish class would usually be considered unrelated. However, these Haiku's that we created show that any culture on Earth can interact with the other to create art. For the rest of my week, I have been preparing and studying to take the Present-indicative test, where I will show my conjugation knowledge. This is what I did in Spanish class this week. This is my last honors video for the month of February, and so it ended now. Bye, friends!"
For this video, I continued to improve my usage of numbers, and they felt much more natural than the last video. I also felt a slight improvement of my pronunciation, which I must continue to work on. Memorization was also better for this video, as I used my cheat-sheet (which has a handful of verbs I struggle with) only once. My grammar felt very good as well. To continue to show improvement, I will study more into pronunciation, and it's effects on words. The areas of pronunciation I struggled with are accents, and thus this is where I will focus most of my studying. I also narrowly avoided a false friend, in the form of compromise. I thought compromiso was a term that could translate, but decided to take a look, and found that instead means 'commitment' as opposed to compromise, which translates to acuerdo. I rewrote my script and memorized new lines to avoid this mistake. I also felt a bit more confident in my grammar. One thing I think I can continue to improve upon for future videos is better pronunciation. As I am still learning, this is to be expected, but having proper pronunciation would make my videos' more realistic. This would demonstrate more growth in the future.
